Hey!! That amazing line work inspired me to research this cartoon! This is what I found: " -- Califica académico el monumento al tubo "una obra no necesaria -- EL jefe del departamento de Ingenieria Civil y Minas de la Universidad de Sonora, Dagoberto Burgos Flores descartó que el tubo-monumento sea de deshecho, por lo que exhortó a la autoridad a dar a conocer el costo real para evitar especulaciones de la sociedad. Yes, that's the story. Let me fill you in: the government of my hometown built an absurd "monument" (it's just a segment from a pipeline that will bring water from a nearby dam) and fooly decided that they would let the citizens "sign it" with markers before moving it to a museum (really). What happened is that the people of Hermosillo started writing their hearts out and soon the pipe was full of messages against the monument and against the local government. After just one day the authorities erased all the messages and re-painted the pipe, as if nothing had happened. Now it's watched over 24/7 by the police. Now if you want to sign the pipe you have to give your name, show your ID and be supervised by a police officer while you do it. It's absolutely ridiculous.
Thank you so much for the information! The situation sounds like hypocrisy. Unfortunately, that behavior doesn't surprise me. Your drawing not only has great lines and hatching but also makes perfect sense. Thanks again! I think it's important for people to know when events like this happen, because authorities can easily do this.
